Dallas Aunt and TJP Team Up to Help Nephew

Dec 15th, 2008 | By | Category: Dallas County, Families Speak Out, Success Stories

I would like to thank the Texas Jail Project for their help and support with getting my nephew medical care while in the Lew Sterett Justice Center in Dallas. He was having some medical problems and I did not know where to turn. I had called repeatedly to get him medical attention and they would see him but not treat the condition he was having problems with. They would just call him down to the nurse station and check his blood pressure and send him back.

Well, I got on the internet and found this organization who has been our guardian angel. They have sent emails and made phone calls and done a lot of medical research for us.

Thanks to this organization a lot of inmates receive help they would not have otherwise received. Whenever I email them with a medical question or any kind of question they always take the time to get back with me with an answer and a website to back it up so I can send the information to my nephew. They are a blessing and we really appreciate them. My nephew is feeling better and tells me every week to thank them for their help. He is glad that there is an organization out there that really cares about inmates.

The Commission on Jail Standards needs to know that the Dallas County Jail still needs improvements and watchdogs over them to see the inmates are getting good medical treatment that they need.
