This info on summer camps originally came to us from a wonderful organization, Texas Inmates Families Association (TIFA), which supports and provides information to families of inmate in the state prison system (TDCJ). We know of one fine young man who went to one of these camps and it raised his spirit and helped him realize he was not the only kid missing his dad. Visit the helpful TIFA website at http://tifa.org/

Just a note to say that Camp Good News for children of the incarcerated is being held June 9-14, 2013. All other information above about camp Good News is correct. The web site for Camp Good News is http://www.campgoodnews4kids.org . Thanks, Ed Davis, Director

P.S. Katy Hoskins is no longer director of Promise camp in Amarillo.

Someone (I think Ed) spoke to the Kairos Outside of Texas about a year ago in Cedar Park north of Austin telling us about this camp for kids with an encarcerated family member. It was too late to get our act together to include the info in our guests’ clasing packets for Kairos Outside of Central Texas #1. This year we are thinking ahead and want info for 36 guests, or permission to copy the brochure if it is still current info. Of course, we’ll need the dates. The website still has 2013’s date in it.

Our weekend is March 28 – 30, 2014, and our ministry is for women who have a loved one incarserated (man or woman, spouse, girlfriend, mother, sister etc.) often it is the spouse who has the kids to raise on her own and both kids and spouse would appreciate a few days away from their reg routine.

Thank you for all you do and get done for our youth, Joy Perry (joyperrychas@yahoo.com)
