- The Brooks Co. Jail has not been inspected by the Texas State Fire Marshal’s Office since September 8, 2016 which is past the annual due date. It should be noted that the facility has failed to correct all issues noted in the September 8, 2016 report. As a result, the State Fire Marshal will not schedule a subsequent inspection/re-inspection until all issues have been addressed.
- During the review of the Mental Health / Suicide Screening Forms, multiple violations were found with improper notification to the supervisor, magistrate and/or mental health authority as required. The screening forms had documented indicators that required one or more people be notified. However, there was no notation on the forms
to indicate any notification had been made by the jail staff.
