Notes and Summary
  • After a review of documentation submitted as well as video evidence, it was determined that there were no face-to-face observations documented on November 13, 2017 between 1601 hours and 2149 hours when Inmate Coon was discovered.
  • There was no documentation submitted to prove that the Magistrate was notified as  required by Article 16.22 of the CCP for Inmate Coon

A forty-one-year-old female of Ivanhoe, Texas, died while a prisoner in the Tyler County Jail in Woodville, Texas. According to a press release from the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office, she was discovered nonresponsive in her cell late Sunday night. Jail staff, deputies, and police officers with the Woodville Police Department performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) until an ambulance arrived. She was never revived, however. The Justice of the Peace pronounced her dead at the jail and ordered an autopsy. The custodial death was investigated by the Texas Rangers and the Texas Commission on Jail Standards (TCJS).
